A Hear Me Out Dialogue: Racial Histories - Coy Public Library of Shippensburg
In partnership with the Northland Public Library, the Coy Public Library of Shippensburg, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, and the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library, the Free Library of Philadelphia presents Racial Histories: A 'Hear Me Out' Dialogue & One Book, One Philadelphia Program.
All are invited to join us for this interactive dialogue exploring questions about our engagement with our own racial histories, and the work that can be done to shape future beliefs about race that have been passed down through family, society, and our nation. Drawing on poems from The Tradition, together we will share personal histories with a forward-focused lens. The dialogue will explore how we learned or didn’t learn about race, the constructs and impacts of whiteness, and how to begin to heal scars we carry as a nation. Facilitated through an anti-racist lens, we will examine and challenge the traditions we hold and the concrete actions we can take to shape the history of our future generations.
