This tour is dedicated to the American Heroes of two historical events that occurred in Pennsylvania. We meet our guide in Bedford and then travel to the Flight 93 Memorial, which includes both the Memorial Plaza with the Wall of Names of the Heroes of Flight 93 and the Visitor Center, dedicated on Sept 10, 2015. Located near Shanksville, the memorial overlooks the crash site where 40 Heroes sacrificed their lives for freedom on September 11, 2001. Here, we learn about and honor the extraordinary actions of those individuals.
Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious Smorgasbord Luncheon at nearby Oakhurst Tea Room, which has been a family tradition since 1933.
Following lunch, we’re off to the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site where we will hear the story of “All Nine Alive”, from the time the accident occurred until the last miner was brought up. The memorial honors the team of rescue workers who saved nine trapped coal miners from certain death.
We end our day at the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel and United Crew Monument. In the chapel, you’ll see mementos donated by family members and others who wish to honor the heroes. The Flight 93 Crew Monument was dedicated, on the first anniversary of 9/11 to honor the memory of the 40 heroes of Flight 93, and is entitled “Forever in Our Hearts”. Come join us for this inspirational day and honor our American Heroes!
