The Shippensburg University Community Orchestra and Concert Choir come together to present one of the greatest masterpieces of the classical era, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem. The program will also include a performance of the popular and lively Carmen Concert Fantasy, Op.25 by Pablo de Sarasate, a virtuosic setting of music from Bizet’s opera, Carmen, arranged for full orchestra and solo violin, featuring guest artist Katie Lansdale.
Mozart’s Requiem compels with its rich palette of musical flavors, from the plaintive “Lacrimosa” to the forceful “Dies Irae” – a musical treat for the Shippensburg community! The concert will be conducted by Dr. Mark Hartman. Featured soloists include Elizabeth Shoenfelt, soprano, Leah Kaye Serr, contralto, Christyan Seay, tenor, and James Martin, bass.
