Suminagashi Marbling - SHAPE Gallery

Suminagashi Marbling with Paper and Silk. Join us at SHAPE to learn and play with this ancient Japanese marbling technique. We will learn to float dyes on water, fan, blow, and tease them into designs and apply to a sheet of absorbent paper to make a contact print. We'll start by exploring this technique on paper and then apply the technique to marble silk. Leave class with beautiful papers, a silk scarf and a new technique to use for quilting, bookbinding, or making wearable art.
