Volunteer Tax Income Assistance (VITA) Program

Money in Your Pocket (MIYP), a community partnership led by United Way of the Capital Region, is dedicated to supporting the economic stability of local families by increasing access to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). From February through April, trained volunteers prepare computerized, electronic tax returns through the IRS Volunteer Tax Income Assistance (VITA) program, offering free assistance to low- to moderate-income working families. Families with two or more members earning $67,000 or less and individuals earning $45,000 or less in 2024 may qualify. Volunteers will assist from start to finish with federal and state tax preparation at various sites across Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties.
