General Description/Position Purpose
The Department of Teacher Education seeks instructors to supervise student teachers. Selected candidates will be added to a team of university supervisors who will be used on an as-needed basis during the fall and spring semesters.
 
As a university supervisor, you will oversee the student teaching experience for assigned students. Primary duties include mentoring, instructional coaching, and collaborating with host teachers. Responsibilities also encompass the writing of evaluations and recommendation letters, responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner, and the completion of professorial duties. The work requires travel to local schools and the occasional need to attend campus meetings/events. Please see course catalog for course description (ECED 489)- https://catalog.ship.edu/index.php
Minimum Qualifications A master’s degree in the field of education, with at least 5 years experience teaching in K-8 is required.

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be certified to be placed in our part-time adjunct faculty pool and will remain in the pool while the pool is active. As need arises, applicants in the pool will be considered and contacted for an on-campus interview. As part of a successful on-campus interview process, candidates will be expected to provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence of understanding diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications Doctorate and at least one year of college-level teaching experience or equivalent, experience working with diverse learners is preferred.
