Full job description

 

The Applications Manager functions as technical liaison to university functional areas in support of their application software. Designs and implements solutions within campus information system and other application software packages. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Description of Duties
 

Evaluates projects and technical support requests. Works with functional area leads to track, troubleshoot and resolve issues and implement new functionality and process requests. Evaluates existing services, researches system, vendor and departmental documentation. Completes systems analysis, design, testing, and end-user documentation. Configures, modifies and implements functional and technical requirements in the software packages. Coordinates implementation of project requests with vendors as appropriate. Coordinates and facilitates end-user acceptance testing.
Provide basic administration and support of application software for university functional areas. Monitors and analyzes new releases and patches to application software. Develops upgrade plans. Tests new releases and patches before deployment, and coordinates and facilitates end-user acceptance testing. Coordinates patch installation with database administrators and functional area leads.
 

Assists in the development of Reports as requested by functional areas.

Researches, investigates, and recommends new application products. Provides vision and foresight necessary to advance and maximize usage of existing applications.
 

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in continuing education courses, professional organizations, seminars and workshops, reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community. Attends vendor conferences to enhance understanding of capabilities of applications software products.
 

Works in a team environment with the application managers, database administrators, systems administrators and developers.
 

Schedules off-hours work to meet the demands of the position.

Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a computer or information systems related field. 2 years experience in business process analysis or application software administration. Experience should include the use, troubleshooting, configuration, and analysis of large, complex software applications or information systems. Required experience must have been obtained in the past 5 years. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a computer or information systems related field or 5 years experience in business process analysis or application software administration. Experience with Ellucian Banner administration. Familiarity with PL/SQL, web services, Argos Reporting tool or other reporting tools, C or other programming and/or data modeling languages.
Experience with using and/or developing of API’s.
